Job Description

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Energy and Sustainability Manager to join our client’s team. As the Energy and Sustainability Manager, you will be responsible for managing site energy, monitoring and reporting on energy consumption, identifying energy-saving opportunities, and implementing approved projects for both gas and electricity applications. Additionally, you will assist in the identification and implementation of projects to achieve our Group Sustainability Goals.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and report on energy consumption, identifying opportunities for energy savings.
  • Implement approved energy-saving projects for gas and electricity applications.
  • Assist in achieving Group Sustainability Goals through project identification and implementation.
  • Engage and negotiate with energy suppliers for electricity and gas contracts.
  • Liaise with Government and regulatory bodies such as NERSA, the Department of Energy, and Treasury.
  • Represent the company in forums related to energy, such as the EIUG, Gas User Group, and The Industry Task Team for Climate Change.
  • Manage current oxygen and nitrogen contracts.
  • Oversee the High Tension and Total Motor Management teams to optimize availability and efficiency.
  • Manage the Condition Monitoring team to ensure reporting of critical assets and identify Industry 4.0 projects.

 

To be successful in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and skills:

  • BEng/BSc in Electrical Engineering. (Non-Negotiable – Btech or Diploma candidates will not qualify)
  • Project Management experience
  • Government Certificate of Competency or Certification in Energy Management would be an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 7-10 + years of experience in electrical network maintenance and energy management.
  • Exposure to contract negotiations
