Job Description

A well-established and growing packaging and security printing company seeks an experienced Lithographic Machine Minder based in Mobeni to print on stock as per the clients' specifications and standards as well as abide by the safety and disciplinary procedures as per the company's policies and procedures.

 

Qualifications/Experience required:

  • Matric
  • Machine Minder Certificate in Lithography
  • 5 Years experience as qualified Machine Minder - Lithography.
  • Be a 'Packaging' printer as opposed to a commercial, digital, or flexographic printer
  • Lithographic sheetfed multicolour operator (paste inks).
  • Knowledge of various substrates and printing on grammage ranging from 200 - 500gsm
  • Knowledge of Aqueous & UV coating.
  • Knowledge of Anilox coating system (Harris & Bruno and Tresu).
  • Knowledge of UV inks will be an advantage.
  • Knowledge of printing on poly coated substrate, will be an advantage.
  • In-line coating experience.
  • Preferably Multi colour KBA & MAN press experience or multi colour Komori or Heidelberg.
  • Possess strong analytical troubleshooting and problem resolution/solving skills.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Brief the Litho crew on the jobs scheduled and ensure they understand what is required on the job.
  • Verify that the correct materials are available as per the job ticket.
  • Do make-ready on the machine and ensure all settings are correct.
  • check the print register, varnish appearance and make sure the glue flaps and expiry date are varnish free.
  • Check the print against the approved colour standard machine proof or colour swatch as per the work ticket instruction.
  • Once approved by the Litho Foreman they will authorize the Machine Operator to proceed with printing.
  • complete the QC records and ink consumption on the work ticket.
  • sign and insert the stack card into the printed stack.
  • Check final product, ensure the colour retention, gloss, drying and scuff resistance before getting the Litho Foreman to sign off the work ticket for the next process.
  • Motivates team members.
  • Communicate with others in an effective and concise manner
  • Time Management and the ability to prioritize projects, and process multiple tasks as required.
