Job Description

Our client, market leader in the Plastic Procurement industry is looking to hire a PET Procurement Manager, based in Gauteng   

As a Procurement Manager, your role is to establish and maintain a supplier network that consistently provides Baled PET stock to their Recycling Facility 

Please note that this role requires extensive travel to meet with potential suppliers 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research to identify current and potential suppliers within South Africa and potentially Rest of Africa (ROA)
  • Evaluate each Material Recovery Facility (MRF) to assess volume, quality, and pricing
  • Collaborate with account managers to ensure the supplier database is updated regularly
  • Negotiate prices with suppliers and conduct competitive analysis to ensure alignment with market conditions and an understanding of strengths and weaknesses
  • Manage a monthly collection target and purchasing budget, formulating and executing a clear strategy for collections
  • Communicate with managers and the logistics team regarding collection statuses, services, and issue resolution
  • Provide professional service to suppliers and customers to foster strong relationships and uphold ethical business practices
  • Develop a weekly plan and tasks based on business expectations for PET feedstock, including inter-province travel and coordination with staff
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure effective service delivery
  • Report weekly/monthly on inventory and status of targets
  • Maintain and care for company property, ensuring cost-effective and safe operation

  • Supplier Relations Growth: Achieve monthly and annual targets
  • Relationship Building: Grow market share and monitor competitiveness with current and potential suppliers
  • Price Negotiation and Value-Added Services: Maintain a viable procurement budget
  • Supplier and Buyback Centre Development: Expand the footprint to enhance collection within the region
  • Team Development: Assist in training and skill development of team members

 Minimum Requirements:

 Education and Experience:

  • Degree or Diploma in Supply Chain/Procurement
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in a Purchasing/Procurement role
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in Recycling Industry
  • Computer literacy essential 

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong Communication and Negotiating Skills
  • Strong Management and Leadership Skills
