Job Description

Our client, a leading international animal nutrition and feed manufacturing company, is looking for a Health, Safety & Risk Officer to join their team based in Middelburg, Eastern Cape.

This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive Health & Safety professional with experience in a manufacturing or FMCG environment who is passionate about creating a safe workplace, ensuring legal compliance, and driving a strong safety culture.

Minimum Requirements

  • Matric (Grade 12)
  • Relevant Health & Safety qualification
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a Health & Safety, SHE, SHEQ or HSE role
  • Manufacturing or FMCG experience is essential (feed milling experience advantageous)
  • Sound knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act
  • Valid driver's licence
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook)

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with all Health, Safety and Risk legislation, company policies and procedures.
  • Promote and maintain a strong safety culture throughout the site.
  • Conduct Health & Safety inductions for new employees and contractors.
  • Coordinate Health & Safety training and awareness initiatives.
  • Investigate incidents and ensure appropriate corrective and preventative actions are implemented.
  • Conduct risk assessments, workplace inspections and safety audits.
  • Facilitate monthly Health & Safety meetings and maintain accurate records.
  • Ensure compliance with PPE requirements across the site.
  • Monitor housekeeping standards and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain quality, safety and risk management systems.
  • Prepare and maintain Health & Safety reports and documentation.
  • Work closely with production and maintenance teams to improve plant safety and operational compliance.
