Our client, a global leader in commodity trading and risk management, is seeking a Market Risk Analyst to join their team in Johannesburg. This role supports the trading division and the Risk Management team, providing critical analysis and insight into trading strategies, hedging activities, and global market movements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Daily Risk Reporting:

  • Calculate and run daily risk reports, including PnL (Profit and Loss).
  • Ensure the accuracy and compliance of reports with company policies and standards.

• Market Risk Analysis:

  • Analyse and identify potential risks associated with trading products and strategies.
  • Monitor risk trends and communicate areas of concern to managers and traders.

• Credit Risk Assessment:

  • Evaluate credit exposure and ensure effective risk mitigation measures.

• Collaboration & Communication:

  • Work closely with Risk Managers in London and traders globally.
  • Provide proactive insights and solutions to support trading decisions.

Required Skills:

• Qualifications:

  • A recent graduate or candidate with 1-2 years of experience in market risk, preferably within a trading or financial environment.
  • A background in finance, economics, mathematics, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of trading, hedging, and markets.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a high-stakes environment.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and risk mitigation.
  • Eagerness to learn and grow in a commercial setting.
