Our client, market leader in the manufacturing / FMCG sector is looking for a Sales Manager based in Empangeni 

PLEASE NOTE:  Our client is ideally wanting a locally (or surrounding areas) based candidate or a candidate who grew up on the North Coast, now living elsewhere and interested in moving back to the Empangeni area

The successful candidate will look after Sales (new business and key accounts) and  manage a small team.  The role will be 70% external sales and 30% branch and people management 

Duties and Responsibilities:  

  • Oversee a small team at the branch and manage the on-site Stores and Distribution functions
  • Coordinate stock transfers and deliveries to the warehouse, and handling stock management on site
  • Manage health, safety, ISO standards, and food safety protocols for the branch
  • Oversee property maintenance and security for the branch
  • Engage with customers regularly and manage key accounts
  • Source and acquire new customers and business opportunities
  • Drive sales performance and exceed sales targets
  • Build strong relationships with new and existing customers
  • Identify and capitalise on industry opportunities
  • Proactively track sales trends, customer needs, and competitor activities
  • Create and present professional price proposals to customers
  • Collaborate with leadership to develop sales budgets
  • Provide weekly sales reports
  • Coordinate with production, planning, and design departments
  • Ensure efficient stock management to minimize obsolescence costs
  • Address customer needs and complaints promptly and effectively
  • Manage the team's administrative, consumables, and branch-related needs

Minimum Requirements:

 Education and Experience:

 Matric

  • Sales and Marketing qualification advantageous
  • Proven track record of at least 4 to 6 years doing external sales
  • FMCG / Manufacturing sector sales experience essential
  • Experience in managing a team (experience in stock or logistics would be advantageous
  • Ability to do budgeting
  • Drivers license a pre-requisite 

Knowledge and Skills:  

  • Ability to work proactively, think laterally and analytically  
  • Ability to organize and manage own time
  • Drivers license (Code 08) essential)
