My client is currently recruiting for a Collections Manager to join their team in Stellenbosch.

You will spearhead the development and execution of a comprehensive debt collections strategy that ensures timely and efficient recovery of outstanding debts. Your role is pivotal in safeguarding the financial health of their loan services, by optimising collection processes, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory standards, and enhancing overall financial performance. You will be at the forefront of building and leading a dedicated Collections team to deliver exceptional and respectful customer interactions.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Debt Recovery:

  • Develop, implement, and manage collection strategies and targets.
  • Collaborate with various departments to align collection efforts with company goals.
  • Manage customer interactions, including negotiating payment plans, addressing disputes, and resolving issues.

Data Analysis and Reporting:

  • Analyse collection data to track performance, identify trends, and make informed decisions.
  • Prepare regular reports that provide insights into collection effectiveness and recommend improvements.

Risk Management:

  • Identify and mitigate risks, including potential legal issues or reputational damage, by developing and implementing risk management strategies.
  • Ensure all collection activities comply with relevant laws, regulations, and company policies.
  • Stay informed about regulatory changes and adjust strategies and procedures accordingly.

People Leadership:

  • Lead and guide the team to ensure that communication is professional, respectful, and compliant with company policies and regulations.
  • Provide strong leadership to the team, promoting a positive and inclusive work environment.

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Law, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in Debt Collections in Fintech, Banking, Financial Services or similar field; plus 2 years people management experience.
  • Proficient in using collections software and systems.
  •  Strong knowledge of South African Regulations and Compliance requirements such as but not limited to the Debt Collections Act, National Credit Act (NCA), Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), and the Financial Sector Regulation Act (FSRA
