Our client is on the lookout for an experienced Offshore (International) Buyer to join their  dedicated procurement team, based in Durban  

Their procurement department is filled with specialized experts who excel in managing a wide range of products and services. If you have a knack for sourcing Frozen commodities, especially poultry, and possess international buying experience, we want to hear from you!

This fast-paced procurement for exports department demands quick problem-solving skills and the ability to multitask effectively. As an Offshore Buyer, you will play a crucial role in fostering strong relationships between the company and their international suppliers. Your responsibilities will include seamless communication to ensure flawless execution of both new and existing orders

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • International and local product sourcing of frozen commodities
  • Purchasing / Procurement of International products with existing and new suppliers
  • Development of the company's' product range
  • Negotiation of pricing, rebates and settlement discounts
  • Negotiation and handling of claims
  • Handling the negotiation of cycle deals, promotions, and POS material for relevant markets
  • Helping to build and develop new brands for new markets
  • Attending Trade Fairs, local and international travel
  • Experienced in exclusivity, pricing, route to market / value chains, cycle deals, claims process, rebates and settlements

Minimum Requirements:

Education and Experience:

  • Completed matric with Mathematics
  • Relevant Tertiary qualification will be advantageous
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in international procurement of frozen commodities, ideally frozen poultry and fish.
  • Offshore/international buying experience is essential
  • Maintaining and developing supplier relationships
  • Understanding of exports, shipping markets and INCO terms.
  • Experience in operations and logistics would be advantageous
