Job Description
We are a looking for a locally based Laboratory Analyst to join our client's team in Ballito, KZN. This role will report directly to the Quality Manager and will be responsible for conducting chemical evaluations and analysis within a laboratory environment, ensuring compliance with ISO 17025 & 9001:2015, GMP/GLP, and food safety standards, while supporting quality assurance processes and maintaining laboratory equipment and records, within a Manufacturing environment.
Educational Requirement & Experience:
- Matric + Minimum of a National Diploma Chemistry or related field
- Experience with physical lab testing equipment, calipers, scales, digital height gauge, gas chromatography and compression force testing equipment preferred
- Minimum of 3 years QC Laboratory experience, post qualifications - experience with Polymer/Plastics manufacturing experience
- Knowledge of ISO quality standards and experience performing quality and food safety system audits (17025 & 9001:2015)
- Adherence to Standard Operation Procedures, Safety and Good Laboratory Practices requirements in the laboratory and related environments.
- Computer literate
- Ability to work well with other departments
- Flexible regarding working time, able to take decisions with little supervision, possible moving toward a shift system
- Able to handle multi-task environment with good organizational skills
Sound knowledge & working experience within a laboratory environment according to the requirements of ISO 17025:
- Responsible for the chemical evaluation of Raw Material; Finished Product and Stability samples.
- Execute daily tasks and work instructions according to the relevant SOP's
- Records and reports result and provides detailed observations of the analysis of data and interpretation thereof
- Accurately calculates/interprets results
- Perform analytical investigations according to SOP, on out of specification (OOS) results
- Reports all Out of Specification/Deviations to Manager
- Disposal of all laboratory waste according to procedure
- Monitor gas cylinder levels and timeously order replenishment stock
- Ensure compliance with GMP/GLP guidelines, SOP's, and internal audits.
- Ensure Lab equipment is maintained at acceptable levels and report discrepancies/breakdowns to Team Leader
- Analyze non-routine/special request investigations according to target date
- Maintain standard forms and electronic laboratory records
Business Process Management (BPM) processes the job holder is responsible for:
- Support the Quality Supervisor as needed and/or requested, especially for M4 in respect to QA related topics for ISO9001 and FSSC22000.
- S6 (Assure product conformity)
- S6.3 Responsible as the technical expert that hygiene requirements are fulfilled in the whole plant.
- Responsible for complying with and ensuring compliance to Food Safety standards
- S6.1 Responsible for implementation of all related sub processes through disciplinary responsibility along the line of command in the Quality area e.g. Production personnel fulfilling quality inspections tasks.
