Job Description

Our leading FMCG client is actively looking for a dynamic Sales / Branch Manager for their Empangeni operation.   Role with cover the North Coast area and report into the Divisional Executive 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the small team at the branch and oversee the Stores and Distribution functions on site.
  • Coordinate stock and deliveries from Pinetown to the warehouse, ensuring efficient stock management on site.
  • Oversee Health & Safety (H&S), ISO, and Food Safety compliance for the branch.
  • Handle property maintenance and security for the branch.
  • Conduct day-to-day customer visits and manage key accounts.
  • Source new customers and business opportunities.
  • Effectively manage sales to exceed sales budgets.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with new and existing customers.
  • Identify and create new opportunities within the industry.
  • Monitor sales activities, customer interactions, and competitor actions proactively.
  • Present professional price proposals in writing to all customers.
  • Develop sales budgets in collaboration with the Executive team.
  • Report weekly on sales performance.
  • Interface with production, planning, and design departments.
  • Ensure effective stock management and minimize obsolescence costs.
  • Communicate and address customer requirements and complaints promptly.
  • Manage admin, consumables, and other branch requirements.
  • Ensure all team activities align with overall branch objectives.

Requirements:

  • Understanding of the Rigid Plastic Packaging market is advantageous.
  • Essential understanding of packaging.
  • Proficiency in computer literacy (Excel, Word, PowerPoint; SAP is a benefit).
  • Ability to work proactively, think laterally, and analyze situations effectively.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Competency in budgeting.
  • Minimum education: Matric; a Sales and Marketing qualification is advantageous.
  • 4 to 6 years of external sales experience.
  • Proven ability to close deals efficiently and effectively.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of employees, including senior management.
  • Valid driver's license (Code 08).
  • Experience managing a team; experience in Stock or Logistics is advantageous.
