The South African Sugarcane Research Institute (SASRI), a world leader in sugarcane and agricultural research, is inviting applications for the 2026 Graduate Programme in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Remote Sensing.

At SASRI, we use cutting-edge technology and spatial data to drive smarter, more sustainable farming decisions. As a GIS / Remote Sensing Graduate, you'll gain hands-on experience working with advanced mapping tools, satellite imagery, and spatial analysis to support agricultural innovation and environmental sustainability.

Purpose of the Graduate Programme:
The programme aims to:

  • Provide graduates with practical workplace experience to enrich their academic learning.
  • Build expertise in applying GIS and Remote Sensing technologies to real-world agricultural challenges.
  • Enhance employability through Business, Technical, and Life Skills Training supported by structured mentorship.

Essential Entry Requirements:

  • A Bachelor's or Postgraduate Degree in Geographic Information Systems, Remote Sensing, Environmental Science, Geography, or related field.
  • Strong analytical and spatial data interpretation skills.
  • Interest in applying geospatial technologies in agricultural or environmental research.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • A proactive, detail-oriented, and solution-driven mindset.

  • Successful participants will receive an allowance of R4500.00 monthly.
  • We offer onsite accommodation, meals, clinic facilities and a laundry service: Should you make use of this option a monthly deduction of R380.00 will be made from your allowance via our payroll.
