Job Description

An industry leader in the packaging/manufacturing sector is seeking an experienced Plant Manager based in the Roodekop area.  This person will be responsible for leading and optimising production operations within a high-volume injection moulding plant. The role focuses on achieving production targets, ensuring product quality, improving efficiencies, and maintaining a safe, disciplined, and high-performance manufacturing environment.

 

Tasks & responsibilities:

  • Manage day-to-day production activities within the injection moulding department
  • Ensure production plans are executed to meet output, quality, cost, and delivery targets
  • Lead, coach, and develop production supervisors and operational teams
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives (OEE, scrap reduction, downtime reduction)
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards
  • Collaborate with maintenance, tooling, quality, and planning teams to ensure optimal machine uptime
  • Monitor and control labour, material usage, and production costs
  • Participate in capital projects, new product introductions, and process optimisation
  • Ensure adherence to company policies, procedures, and performance standards

 

Qualifications, Experience & Competencies:

  • Bsc or Beng Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial or Mechatronics Degree
  • Minimum 2-3 years' experience running a manufacturing plant
  • Proven experience managing large production teams in a high-volume, shift-based operation
  • Strong knowledge of injection moulding processes, tooling, materials, and cycle optimisation
  • Solid understanding of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement tools
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills
