Job Description

KWV a renowned South African brand and industry leader in the production of world-class wines, and other spirits has two vacancies for a Machine Operatorbased in Paarl.

Purpose:

The incumbent is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the assigned machine, in line with demonstrated competency. The role requires producing high-quality products within set operating parameters while minimising waste. The successful candidate must take full ownership of ensuring that only safe, compliant products meeting all applicable quality, food safety, and legislative standards are manufactured.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Grade 12 (Matric)
  • Minimum 3 years' relevant experience in a Packaging environment
  • At least 2 years' experience operating specific processes and/or machinery
  • Computer literacy will be advantageous

Inherent Job Requirements

  • The role requires the ability to perform physical duties associated with packaging operations.

Job Summary:

  • Conduct daily quality checks and ensure accurate completion of quality control documentation in line with procedures.
  • Maintain a sound understanding of product specifications to ensure compliance at all times.
  • Participate in MDWT meetings and ensure performance boards are updated accordingly.
  • Perform machine changeovers in accordance with standard operating procedures to accommodate different product sizes and variants.
  • Conduct pre-start-up inspections to ensure smooth and efficient machine start-up.
  • Set up and operate the Printer Code System to ensure accurate and compliant date coding.
  • Measure, record, and control all packaging parameters (including wastage) within defined specifications, implementing corrective actions where required.
  • Complete all required process control checks to ensure full product traceability.
  • Set up and monitor inspection equipment to ensure accurate product verification and minimise waste.
  • Participate in multi-disciplinary problem-solving teams to reduce downtime and improve operational efficiency.
  • Perform first-line maintenance on machines.
  • Verify dry goods against orders and ensure accurate returns where applicable.
  • Adhere to all Health and Safety principles and ensure incidents are reported in line with procedures.
  • Perform and monitor cleaning procedures to maintain a safe, hygienic, and compliant production environment.
