Assembly and Production Manager - Plastics Manufacturing

Location: West Rand, Johannesburg
Department: Manufacturing
Reporting to: Factory Manager

 

The Opportunity

A leading manufacturing business is seeking an experienced Assembly & Production Manager to lead the day-to-day operations, production output and people within the Assembly Department.

The successful candidate will have strong plastics manufacturing experience, preferably within injection moulding, combined with proven leadership and Lean Manufacturing expertise.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage daily assembly and production operations, including casting, assembly and packing.
  • Plan and allocate labour, materials and resources to achieve production targets.
  • Drive quality, productivity, stock control and on-time dispatch.
  • Lead, coach and develop production teams.
  • Monitor KPIs and drive continuous improvement and operational excellence.
  • Implement and maintain Lean Manufacturing, 6S, Takt Time and One-Piece Flow principles.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, health & safety, PPE and housekeeping standards.

 

Requirements

  • Matric with Mathematics and English.
  • Mechanical Engineering, Production, Operations, Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering qualification.
  • Supervisory Management Certificate advantageous.
  • Minimum 5 years' production experience in plastics manufacturing, preferably injection moulding.
  • Minimum 5 years' supervisory/management experience.
  • Proven experience with Takt Time and One-Piece Flow.
  • Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and 6S.
  • Six Sigma Yellow/Green Belt certification or practical experience.
  • Computer literate, including MS Office.
  • Willingness to work shifts, overtime and extended hours when required.
