Job Description

A South African agricultural and forestry company has a permanent role for a suitably qualified and experienced HR Officer, based in Piet Retief, Mpumalanga.

Job Summary:

This role involves coordinating the endtoend recruitment lifecycle - developing job descriptions, advertising vacancies, screening and interviewing candidates, performing reference and background checks, and maintaining HRIS data and records with precision. The role also includes supporting Employment Equity (EE) compliance and initiatives in line with legislative requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and update job descriptions for current and new roles
  • Advertise vacancies across internal and external platforms with strong attention to detail
  • Screen CVs and create shortlists of candidates
  • Assist with scheduling interviews, uploading project details to Wamly, conducting interviews, and providing applicants with feedback
  • Conduct employment reference checks and MIE background verifications
  • Maintain detailed interview records for HR approval packs
  • Load new hire information into the SAGE 300 People system accurately and on time
  • Manage system updates in SAGE 300 People - including reporting structures and position linking
  • Contribute to ongoing job profiling and HR system enhancements
  • Perform general HR administrative tasks
  • Support the preparation and submission of annual Employment Equity reports
  • Assist in the development and implementation of Employment Equity plans
  • Coordinate quarterly Employment Equity Committee meetings, including preparing agendas, compiling documentation, and recording minutes
  • Collect and organise documentation for Department of Labour inspections

Minimum Requirements:

Education and Experience:

  • Matric / Grade 12
  • Diploma / Degree in Human Resources or a related field (advantageous)
  • 2-3 years' experience in an HR administrative or officer role with exposure to Employment Equity reporting
  • Strong communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Proactive and eager to learn
  • High attention to detail and excellent organisational skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite
  • Driver's License: Code 08
