Responsibilities:

As a Conveyancing Paralegal, your primary responsibility will be to support our conveyancing attorneys in the completion of property transactions. Your duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Assisting with the drafting and preparation of legal documents, including contracts, deeds, and agreements.
  • Conducting thorough research and due diligence on properties, ensuring all necessary information is accurate and up to date.
  • Managing and organizing documentation related to property transactions, maintaining an efficient filing system.
  • Liaising with clients, estate agents, financial institutions, and other relevant parties to facilitate the smooth progression of transactions.
  • Conducting property searches, including title searches and property ownership verifications.
  • Assisting with the coordination of property transfers, registration of bonds, and other related processes.
  • Handling conventional and sectional transfers, including Estates and Insolvency matters from inception to final accounts and then finalizing the matter.
  • Providing general administrative support to the conveyancing department as required.

Requirements:

  • A tertiary qualification preferred but, not essential.
  • Min of 10 years proven experience working as a Conveyancing Paralegal or in a similar position within a reputable law firm.
  • In-depth knowledge of conveyancing processes, procedures, and relevant legislation in South Africa.
  • 8-10 years' experience in conventional and sectional transfers, including Estates and Insolvency matters from inception to final accounts and then finalizing the matter.
  • Proficiency in handling property transfers, bond registrations, and related documentation.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • Excellent attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in all aspects of your work.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to engage with clients and stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in legal research and the ability to analyze and interpret legal documents.
  • Proficiency in relevant software (Legal Suite)
  • Development work experience would be an advantage but is not a necessity.
